Calimero is an Italian/Japanese animated series about an anthopomorphic chicken; the only black one in a family of yellow chickens. He wears half of his egg shell on his head.
The character originated from the Italian advertising show Carosello, where he was used in short advertisements for the soap/detergent product Ava. He then got his own series of approx. 5 minute shorts, which were translated into several languages (including English, though those versions are rare).
Calimero had 3 other series: two Japanese anime series (one in 1972 and another in 1992) and a French CGI series made in 2013. The French series is the first full-length series to air in English (though the old English shorts did see some airtime in the UK and possibly Australia), though it has not aired in the United States yet.
